Sacred Fire seeks writing that goes beyond the common confrontational discourse and engages our readers' hearts. We want passionate personal essays about your burning relationships with the planet, plants and animals, people, food, sex, and art, about lifestyles that deepen connections to the Earth and her beings.
The work we want has, at its core, a sense of the divine nature of the subject--though it need not be explicitly stated. We love essays that address the everyday realities of our lives with compassion. We seek stories written from within ancient living traditions. We want interviews and profiles of social and spiritual leaders, recognizing that the local bookshop owner or the mother of a disabled child or the disabled child herself may burn with a divine presence and carry wisdom which is as valuable the Dalai Lama's. We want poetry that explodes with the pyrotechnics of the heart and fiction that tells truths that cannot be told any other way.
If you have an idea for an interview or feature article that you'd like to do, send a written proposal to submissions@sacredfiremagazine.com. Include your phone number along with your contact information.
